During the pandemic, I constructed the29.art as an art experiment to build community and address restrictive power structures within the art world. It was a little bit “lets build it ourselves” and a small anatomy experiment, an art piece, designed to create access for self-described women, to show their work, hang out, talk about work, have fun, dance. The collective is still going strong with a diverse group of artists ranging in ages from 27 to 93. I have to fit some time in to put myself on the site.
Participation is by invitation and there are no fees. Participants are encouraged to recommend other artists.
